La colonna sonora del film I Love Radio Rock
I Love Radio Rock (titolo originale The Boat That Rocked) è un film del 2009 scritto e diretto da Richard Curtis.
E’ ambientato nell’Inghilterra di metà anni ’60, quando le radio ufficiali trasmettevano solo 45 minuti di musica leggera al giorno ma gli ascoltatori, soprattutto giovani, ne volevano di più e per averla si sintonizzano sulle tante radio pirata che trasmettevano illegalmente musica pop e rock.
Essendo ambientato in piena Swinging London le canzoni non possono fare altro che rispecchiare, prevalentemente, quel periodo. Dentro un po’ di tutto ma sempre di alto livello, dai The Who e The Kinks alla Motown con le Supremes, Otis Redding, Smokey Robinson, Isley Brothers e Martha & The Vandellas. E poi ancora Jimi Hendrix e Jeff Beck, Beach Boys, Moody Blues e Procul Harum, e ancora Cat Stevens, Turtles, Troggs ed Hollies.
