Si tratta di brani registrati a Nashville, Tennessee presso I Columbia Studios nel 1981 e presso 1111 Sound Studios nel 1984 e prodotti da Billy Sherrill.
Le registrazioni di Out Among The Stars sono riapparse nel 2012, quando John Carter Cash (figlio di Johnny e June), insieme agli “esperti” su Cash della Legacy Recordings, stavano catalogando l’enorme quantità di materiale lasciato dai suoi genitori negli archivi Sony Music, a Hendersonville in Tennessee.
