Pubblicato il 4 settembre 2015, The Book of Souls è il sedicesimo album in studio degli Iron Maiden.

Anticipato il 14 agosto 2015 dal singolo Speed of Light, il disco è stato registrato nello stesso studio dove fu registrato Brave New World. E’ il primo doppio album a contenere esclusivamente materiale inedito e il primo dai tempi di Powerslave a presentare due brani interamente composti dal cantante Bruce Dickinson: If Eternity Should Fail e Empire of the Clouds, il più lungo brano mai composto dagli Iron Maiden.

La copertina dell’album è stata realizzata da Mark Wilkinson. All’uscita The Book of Souls ha debuttato al primo posto della classifica fimi degli album più venduti in Italia.
