Danny Boy è una struggente ballata popolare irlandese. Il testo è stato scritto nel 1910 da Frederick Weatherly, un avvocato inglese. La musica è presa da un altro motivo popolare irlandese, Londonderry Air.
Nel tempo innumerevoli artisti si sono cimentati con Danny Boy, tra questi Johnny Cash, che nel 1965 ne ha inserita una nell’album nell’album rimasterizzato nel 2002 Orange Blossom Special e una più recente inserita in American IV: The Man Comes Around. Questa è stata utilizzata nella colonna di Peaky Blinders, serie tv creata da Steven Knight, con Cillian Murphy, Helen McCrory e Paul Anderson.
