La trama

Il detective in pensione Bill Hodges è ancora tormentato dal caso irrisolto di “Mr. Mercedes”, che ha causato 16 vittime guidando una Mercedes rubata attraverso una fila di persone in cerca di lavoro a una fiera del lavoro locale. Nel frattempo, il giovane e brillante psicopatico Brady Hartsfield emerge per focalizzare la sua attenzione su Hodges. Quello che inizia come un gioco del gatto e del topo online si rivela presto mortale nella vita reale, mentre Hartsfield, sempre più disperato, si accinge a lasciare il segno nel mondo.
