Pop-rock con l’anima di Richards
In the Stars, secondo singolo dopo Rough and Twisted, si presenta inizialmente come un pezzo pop-rock nel solco degli Stones dei primi anni Ottanta. Ma è nel ritornello che succede qualcosa di inaspettato: quando Jagger intona “It’s in the stars, it’s our destiny”, i cori si avvolgono attorno alla melodia con un tocco di piano che rivela una faccia nuova della band, prima di ricadere in un riff immediatamente riconoscibile firmato Keith Richards. “Do you wanna dance ’til the roof caves in?” canta Jagger — e la risposta, ovviamente, è sì.

Foreign Tongues: il ritorno di una famiglia allargata
Registrato ai Metropolis Studios di Londra, Foreign Tongues arriva circa due anni e mezzo dopo l’ultimo album degli Stones, Hackney Diamonds del 2023 — entrambi i dischi sono stati prodotti da Andrew Watt.
Oltre a Jagger, Richards e al chitarrista Ron Wood, l’album vede il ritorno del bassista Darryl Jones, del tastierista Matt Clifford e del batterista Steve Jordan. Ma la presenza più toccante è un’altra: l’album include un contributo del compianto batterista Charlie Watts, registrato durante una delle sue ultime sessioni in studio prima della sua scomparsa nel 2021.
Tra gli ospiti del disco figurano nomi da capogiro: Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith dei Cure e Chad Smith dei Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“Adoro registrare a Londra, ai Metropolis Studios”, ha dichiarato Jagger. “Sono state settimane molto intense. Avevamo 14 grandi tracce e abbiamo lavorato il più velocemente possibile. Mi piace quella sala perché non è troppo grande: si sente la passione di tutti nell’aria.”
