La versione dei Pet Shop Boys
Nel 1987, i Pet Shop Boys eseguirono una versione synth-pop di “Always on My Mind” in Love Me Tender, uno speciale televisivo su ITV nel Regno Unito. Per commemorare il decimo anniversario della morte di Presley, il programma prevedeva vari artisti popolari dell’epoca che eseguivano cover delle sue canzoni. La performance dei Pet Shop Boys fu così ben accolta che il duo decise di registrare la canzone e pubblicarla come singolo.
Nel 2023 il regista Andrew Haigh l’ha inserita nella colonna sonora del suo film Estranei (titolo originale All of Us Strangers).
